This guide will show you how to remove the Driver Assembly from the Yoke so you can replace it with a third party headband and strap of your choosing . This guide will only cover disassembly
If youre going to use a Beyerdynamic DT 770/880/990 Headband as replacement this guide is not necessary as it reuses the Sundara Yoke
There is another Guide that precedes this about removing the original Sundara Headband available on ifixit
In preparation for this guide, you will need the following tools:
- Needle Nose pliers
- Philips Screwdriver
You will also need the following materials:

-
-
This is simple just unscrew the 6 Screws on the surrounding metal plate and remove the plate. just be generally careful around the mesh screen of the driver
-
-
-
-
Simple press Lightly on the back of the driver and lift the driver out. just be mindful of the headphone jack when taking it out
-
-
-
So here you want to make sure you pick an appropriately small screw.
-
The fastener behind also rotates with the screw so a plier to hold it in place while unscrewing.
-
Be careful not to strip this screw as i did on the other side of this yoke and had to get a bit creative with a plier and a power screwdriver.
-
Now you have driver assembly separate from the yoke and can replace the headband with one of your choosing.
-
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
