Cleaning the heat sink improves thermal efficiency and overall performance of the engine. It makes sure no debris gets trapped in any opening.

            Using a 5/16" socket or wrench, remove the three bolts holding the plastic cover on to the engine. 
- 
                     
            Lift away the plastic cover. Note that the starter is attached to the cover and will come off with it.

            Using compressed air or a rag, clean debris from the flywheel.

            Using compressed air and a rag, clean the heat sink.
