This is a necessary procedure for replacing certain parts on the bottom of the Canon EOS Rebel XS 35mm camera (after removal of the bottom cover). This guide details how to remove the these parts and put them back in, whether they're the same parts now fixed, or a new parts. The parts include two small metal plates, washers, screws, and gears.

Remove 6 screws from the base of the camera using a PH #000 screwdriver.

Remove one 7 mm screw

Remove five 4 mm screws

With your fingers, push on the bottom cover towards the back of the camera until it clicks and separates.

With tweezers or your fingers, remove the 5 gears and place them somewhere else for the time being.

Remove the 5mm silver Phillips #000 screw.

Remove three 4mm Phillips #000 screws.
