Follow these steps to remove the muffler from your Briggs and Stratton 675 engine. Once removed, a damaged muffler can be replaced or a dirty one cleaned. The muffler can become dirty or damaged over time. It is important to keep it clear of debris so that the exhaust coming from the engine can flow normally.

Use a socket wrench with a 1/4" hex bit or a 1/4" wrench to remove the three 13mm screws holding the outer flange.

Remove the flange.

Use a pair of needle nose pliers to bend back the two metal tabs on either side of the remaining screws.

Use a socket wrench with a 7/16" hex bit or 7/16" wrench to remove the two remaining 75mm screws.

Remove the muffler from the engine block by simply pulling it away.

When I removed the muffler from the engine block by simply pulling it away, the thermic regulator fell out and I don't see how/where to fix it again.

Obtain the parts diagram for your model. Use the drawing as a guide for re-installation.
