If you notice any major damage to your charging port that prevents you from charging your device, you may need to replace your charging port.

Use a spudger to pry the rubber pads off of the bottom panel of the SoundLink.
-
-
-
Remove the two 12.5 mm screws using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
-
Remove the bottom panel.
easy peasy. great instructions!
couple things: 1. you dont need to remove the rubber pads completely; just enough to get the screws in & out. 2. if you get a small screw driver with the battery, its crap. use your own.
thank you ifixit for another great tutorial.

My SL III battery lasted nearly 8 years with almost daily use—but recently stopped holding a charge for more than 15-20 minutes. Replacement was super easy so thanks for posting. Bose quality is exceptional as always!

-
Flip the rear panel back to allow access to the SoundLink's battery.
-
-
-
Remove the two 12.5 mm Phillips #2 screws from the sides of the battery.
Super Erklärt!!
You do not have to remove the rubber completely. Just lift up the ends towards the middle to reveal the screws.
-
-
-
Gently peel back the adhesive padding on either side of the inner back panel.
-
-
-
-
Remove the four 12.5 mm Phillips #2 screws mounting the outer case.
-
Slide off the outer case.
-
-
-
Remove four screws from each of the four speakers (16 screws total) using a Torx #10 screwdriver.
-
-
-
Remove the two 12.5 mm screws which mount the top panel using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
-
Now you should be able to lift the top panel off.
-
-
-
Use a metal spudger to pry the device apart. You must use a metal spudger because of the great force necessary to pry it apart.
-
-
-
Remove the 12.5 mm screw mounting the motherboard using a Philips #2 screwdriver.
-
-
-
Gently disconnect the three cables connected to the motherboard.
-
Remove the motherboard from the device.
-
-
-
Remove the two 12.5 mm screws on either side of the charging port using a Torx T10 screwdriver.

-
-
-
Gently unplug the cable connecting the charging port.
-
Now the charging port should be fully detached and ready for replacement.

Hello, This is an excellent resource. One thing, you did not say, or I did not see, where to purchase the actual usb port. Where can I locate one and this would be for a Bose Soundlink II.
Thank you,
Jim

Where can you get the part?
Hi.
Excellent step-by-step. Just the same question as the rest please
Agree with the rest of the comments about the instructions. I am writing from Mallorca, Spain, and I was just talking to the Bose service provider here and they were telling me the Soundlink III battery problem is common. The price for a new battery installed is around 140€ which for a product that costs between 250€- 290€ is nothing but normal. Lithium batteries and their useful life, nobody tells you about it when you buy their product.
ATM the issue is the charging port. Now part of these instructions will get you to battery you can buy a battery on Ebay or amazon $40.+usd make sure the battery is oem 2330mAh -same if you order from Alibaba.com/aliexpress .i buy/sell/repair mini I/ii/& the iii
I am also looking for a part. The instructions are irrelevant if a part is not available.
Parts for the sound link iii check Ebay/mouser/also once it’s out check some stereo shops -again Alibaba.com/Ali express
any link for this charging port replacement?

Hello all,
Does anyone have the part number for the charging port?
Thanks.
Great troubleshooting section. However can you enlighten me as to the next step - if there is one?
My Bose sound Link III will not switch on. Nothing if battery alone. No lights or function with the AC power plugged in apart from the Bilip sound for power on or off but only via the power source not the switch on top left.
Is this motherboard or power generally?
Appreciate your guidance here.
Bill
Bose Model 414255, Part 369814-0040. Has anyone successfully found the part? I'm not an electrician, so I rather change the little motherboard, rather than the actual power port - avoid soldering it.
If anyone was able to get it fix, TIA if you can send me link where to find the parts.

The power port part is called "dc-044a". You can google it and find it on aliexpress for example. Hope this helped some of you.
