Carefully and gently pull the two halves of the vacuum apart.

Use an opening tool to lift the plastic strips underneath the motor upwards to separate them from the motor cover.

Disconnect the two red and black wires from the motor.

Use an opening tool to pull off the black fan underneath the motor.

Unscrew the two 10 mm Phillips #1 screws underneath the motor.

Replace old motor with replacement motor.

I have a black&decker dustbuster cordless....and the batteries are dead and I want to run it directly by adapter. It has a johnson 14.4v dc motor and i cant find its datasheet to choose the best adapter.now for this motor what is your suggestion?
As you know better than me,adapters arent made in all voltages.

16.5v-4.7A(my laptop adapter)?

please give some options for voltage and amperage so i can buy adapter (or make by adding three 6A-diods to my laptop adapter and achieve to for example 16.5v 4.7A )

Excellent guide!
I didn't need to replace the motor, but I did need to get to the motor to remove some hair and other string-like things from the shaft.
Additionally, I needed to remove the impeller to clean it out (it was caked with dirt - apparently the primary cause for the issue I was having (very loud - but not squeaking, little suction). If you've already taken the unit apart this far, it's worth it to remove the impeller and give it a good cleaning - gunk can get stuck inside the impeller reducing the openings in the airflow channels.
