Start by removing the marked screws:
-
Remove the four 6mm screws
-
Remove the two 8mm screws
-
Remove the four 9mm screws
-
-
-
Using a opening tool, pry and lift at the edge of the bottom until you feel it open.
-
-
-
Using a fingernail or spudger move back the retaining clip holding the battery connector in place.
This description is too concise for non-experts.
A) it's doesn't mention that the screw in the dead center of the laptop is hidden beneath a piece of plastic that must be removed with a razor blade.
B)It doesn't mention anything about sliding back the piece of a metal that keeps the plastic clip attached to the battery in place. Based on the pictures, the only thing a person would need to do is push on the plastic clip with a credit card.
-
-
-
-
Put a spudger under the battery connector and twist, the connector should lift off.
-
-
-
First, push down the clips at the side of the memory. Once you have, the memory module should pop up. You can now remove the memory module.
-
-
-
Line up the notch on the new memory module with the notch on the slot and insert the module at an angle.
-
-
-
Once the RAM is inserted, gently push down on the module until you hear a click.
-
To reassemble your device, follow these steps in reverse order.

Hi! Thank you so much for this tutorial, I was curious if you know if this is compatible for every ASUS Vivobook 14 or if there may be versions which don't support ram upgrades? I was told to look on the bottom (before taking off the cover) for a labelled spot where the RAM goes, but I don't see it. Does that definitely mean it is not compatible to add more?
Hi, Thank you for your guide
how many slot for add memory?
There is one accessible memory slots on the laptop as shown in the guide.
I'm about to find out first hand, however, I have researched and I understand that once you safely remove the bottom cover for the laptop, there is a single slot available for a 260-pin DDR4 SODIMM ram card. My research indicates I can add 16GB of additional ram this way, for a total maximum of 20GB ram memory on this model.
Further, I also understand one can upgrade the SSD for more storage. That's my next upgrade on this laptop.
You are correct! There is one DDR4 SODIMM slot, You may add up to one 16GB stick for 20GB total. Only speeds up to 2666Mhz are supported. The SSD is upgradable although you will need a drive cloner.
Can I get a link of the RAM
Here is a ram kit I'd recommend installing. https://a.co/d/fi1YBlt
Hi Jonathan,
Great tutorial, thanks.
Before, I open mine (ASUS Vivobook S 14 Flip OLED TN3402QA-KN146W) which came with 16 Gb RAM and 1Tb SSD, a great value for 800 USD (special limited discount price), I have the following concern.
From the manufacturer, it looks like this notebook is upgradable to 32gb RAM, but your article tends to suggest that there are 2 modules (4+16) with one accessible to he end user for a maximal 20Gb RAM. Then how could I get up to 32 Gb RAM? e.g. if I insert a 32 Gb RAM module, then what about the 4 Gb one?
Besides, I should have 20Gb already but my configuration suggests there is only one module (for my current 16Gb RAM) that I could swap to get, indeed, 32 Gb RAM.
Your input here would be most welcome.
Best regards,
Paul
Hello! That is a different model to the one on this article. The one shown is a X412D model, which only has one upgradable slot with 4GB soldered to the motherboard, hence the 20GB maximum.
This was one of the easier one I have done. I don't get to crack open laptops too often but this definitely helped boost the confidence levels!
