The motherboard is your machine's main control center, where processing occurs. If your motherboard is broken, you absolutely will have to swap it. This tutorial will demonstrate how the motherboard can be replaced.

Flip the laptop so you can see the back side.

Identify the two slide locks below the battery. Slide them outward towards the unlock symbol. You should see a red mark that indicates that the battery is unlocked and is ready for removal.

Now you can remove the battery while continuing to hold the right battery lock in the unlock position.

Flip the computer over, and unscrew the two 5 mm screws using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Lift the panel from the device.

Slide the hard drive away from the SATA connector and remove the hard drive from the device.

Flip computer over and unscrew the two 5 mm screws using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Pull the clips toward the chassis of the computer. The RAM will pop up and can easily be removed.

Open laptop so the keyboard is accessible.

Insert a plastic prying tool and push and then pull to release the keyboard from the device.

Lift keyboard and remove ZIF connector cables.

Remove the keyboard from the device.

Remove the nine 5 mm screws using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Flip the laptop over and remove nine 5 mm screws using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Use the iFixit opening tool to remove the cd drive on the left of the laptop.

Use the same tool to remove the plastic top from the laptop.

Remove the eight 3 mm screws using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Lift up the motherboard and disconnect all wires attaching the motherboard to the rest of the computer.

Lift the motherboard out of the laptop and remove it from the device.
