If your laptop is running hot, you may decide to either replace or clean out your fan unit, and replace the thermal compound with better quality.

Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the ten 3mm Phillips head screws on the base of the laptop.

Use the spudger to pry open the rear cover at either hinge.

Grab the cover with your fingers and gently lift it away from the board.

Remove the seven 4mm Phillips #0 screws holding the heat sink/fan assembly onto the motherboard.

Using the spudger, unplug the fan from the motherboard connection by carefully pushing on both sides of the connector.

Lift up on the fan, copper heat pipe and heat sink assembly, and remove from motherboard.
