    I have tried this many times and my phone just keeps turning back on. Is there any other way to access the recovery menu

    i would really love to know this too. i have been trying to do the same and the phone just turns on. or is stuck in a boot loop until i release the volume up button

    I had the same problem. Try to completely discharge the battery, until the phone won't turn on. Then hold volume up and power button, an then connect the phone to the charging cable. Then same procedure as described. Worked for me when the USB cable was connected to my notebook.
