Push the slider until the battery is released from its socket.

Lift the battery using your fingers.

Place the laptop face down on a hard, flat surface to have a clear view of the bottom of the computer.

Once you have located the hard drive, you will then need to remove the 3 mm screw using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

Gently slide the hard drive away from the computer using the built in ridges.

Hello I guess I got lucky running across this site my 2200 dollar laptop has been a brick paper weight since Mr Gates dropped support of Vista leaving a lot of non savvy pc techs hanging no where to turn prayfully this fix it site can breath new life into my Alienwares gaming mr17 r1 hard drive once more blowing dust off ("cough") as I write this help me please .
