If you must replace a broken optical drive, increase storage by using a second hard drive, or fix other internal repairs, use this guide to replace the optical drive of your Acer Aspire 5740-5780.
An optical drive in an Acer Aspire is used to read and burn (upload content to) optical devices like CDs and DVDs. If there is an issue with this drive, it will not be able to read, burn, or eject those optical devices.
Before beginning, ensure that your device is powered off and disconnected from all external power sources.
