Welcome to my guide on how to replace a windshield wiper for a 2014-2020 Dodge Durango. If your windshield wiper is dirty or broken, it could impair your vision of the road while driving. If your not sure if your windshield wiper needs replacement, here is an article for possible symptoms:
- cracks or tears in the rubber (the part that touches your windshield)
- skipping across your windshield while in use
- windshield wipers leave streaks on windshield
- frame of the wipers are bent or broken
Make sure to protect your windshield with padding. With the wiper blades off, the metal wiper arm is positioned to make contact with the glass of your windshield. If you accidentally bump into it in the middle of changing blades, it could slap down and crack the windshield.
You can protect your windshield by getting a towel or two and laying it on the windshield to act as a barrier between the glass and the wiper arm. This way, if the arm does suddenly swing down, it hits the towel and not your windshield.

For a Dodge Durango 2014 SXT it's essential to note that each wiper has a specific measurement—22 cm for the driver's side and 21 cm for the passenger side.
-
A stool might be used to reach certain places we won't be able to reach without it. Since the two wipers are in front of the window over the hood the stool will make this work a lot easier.
-
You might need a screwdriver or a Slotted Screwdriver just so that you can keep pressure when removing your wipers.
-
-
-
Prepare the Wipers: Turn off the ignition and ensure the wipers are in the "parked" position, which means they are at the bottom of the windshield.
-
Lift the Wiper Arm: Gently lift the driver's and passenger side's wiper arm away from the windshield. It should stay in a raised position on its own.
-
Examine the Wiper and Inspect the connection between the wiper blade and the wiper arm which is a hook.
-
Look at the red circle in the picture you will see my thumb and index finger placed on the release tab. add pressure and pull downward towards the hood of the car to release the old wiper.
-
Also Examine the Wiper Attachment: Inspect the connection between the wiper blade and the wiper arm. Look for the release tab circled in orange in the picture.
-
Then do the same step as did on the other wiper slide the wiper blade downward, away from the wiper arm. This should detach the wiper blade.
-
-
-
-
Attach the New Wiper Blade: Take the new wiper blade and position it at the end of the wiper arm where the old one was removed. Ensure the attachment mechanism aligns with the connection point on the wiper arm.
-
Secure the Attachment: You will have to reverse your steps on how you removed it, so now you will pull up and make sure the hook/arm attaches with the wiper. To insure you got you will hear a click sound. If so, you are set.
-
Passenger side: Do the same step, make sure the hook/arm is in position and just push up and it will lock in place.
-
-
-
Lastly, confirm the proper functionality and secure placement of both wipers. Start your vehicle, activate the front wipers, and check for any looseness.
-
If a wiper is loose, turn off the wipers and reposition it securely. If additional assistance is required, revisit Step 2.
-
If everything is working well, your task is complete. SAFE DRIVING :)

Overall, I hope you had a great experience working on your own car, changing something simple as a windshield wiper. You will no longer need to search for help when wanting to replace a windshield wiper.
