This guide will show you how to replace a door lock switch in a T3 (2010-2018) Volkswagen Touareg. An extra set of hands will make this repair much easier when removing the wiring from the back of the door panel. A lot of the panels that are to be removed contain brittle plastic clips, so proceed with caution.

Remove the door pull trim piece using a nylon offset v-notch prying tool.

Remove the T20 Torx bolt underneath the door trim pull piece.

Remove the armrest by firmly pulling up on the cover.

Remove the wiring from the window switch.

Remove the two T20 Torx bolts that were originally underneath the armrest cover.

Remove the belt line trim piece carefully with a trim removal tool.

Remove the T20 Torx bolt that is underneath the belt line trim piece.

Remove the T20 Torx bolt at the very bottom of the door panel.
-

Use a trim removal tool to release the clips on the bottom side of the door panel.

Once all of the clips are released, use the door pull and lift the door panel off of the top of the door frame.

Remove the main door harness from the door control module.
-

Now that the wiring is removed from the door panel, distinguish which plug is the door lock switch.

Remove the wiring and use a pick to free the switch of the mounting tabs.
-

-
Once the switch is free of the tabs, simply push the switch out from the front of the door panel towards the back.

To install the new switch, just push firmly into the locking tabs until the switch clicks into place.
