This guide will help you safely and correctly replace the alternator from a 2011 - 2017 Volkswagen Jetta.

Latch is located below steering wheel.

Find latch above Volkswagen symbol on grill and open.

Use the 10 mm socket wrench to do this step.

Loosen the nut on the connector by turning it counter-clockwise.

Use the 10 mm socket wrench to do this step.

Loosen the nut on the connector by turning it counter-clockwise.

Ensure that both terminals are clear before continuing.

The alternator will be on the left side when facing engine
-

The belt loosening bolt is on the left, below the alternator.
-
-
-
Using 11/16 in. socket, rotate clockwise to loosen the bolt

-
Push the belt off of the alternator.

Do not completely remove belt from engine.

-
Locate the 4 screws holding the alternator in place two on the top and two on the bottom.
-
-
-
Using the 1/2 in. socket, remove the screws.
-
-
-
Remove cap and electrical connector located on the right side of the alternator before removing the alternator.

Take alternator out of engine by pulling to the left and out.

What engine is this guide for?
Don’t think you can get the alternator out without tying back the coolant hose in the way and probably removing the fans as there is not enough space to get it out otherwise idk how this guide managed to.
