If the reverse light in your 2008-2011 Saab 9-3 is broken, dim, or dull, use this guide to replace the bulb. It's important to note that if one reverse light goes out, the other one will probably go out soon, so it's best to replace both at the same time.
The reverse light communicates to other drivers that you are going to reverse on the road. A faulty reverse light is both dangerous and illegal and should be replaced as soon as possible.
You may turn the vehicle on to verify the faulty light, but be sure your car is off before beginning the repair. When handling the bulb, use a nitrile glove and avoid touching the glass. The oils on your fingers will degrade the bulb and cause it to burn out more quickly.
After completing the repair, turn on your car to confirm that the reverse light works before driving on public roads.
