If your brake/tail light on your 2006 GT Ford Mustang isn’t illuminating and needs to be replaced, use this guide to replace the lightbulb.
The brake/tail light illuminates when the headlights are turned on to create visibility for drivers behind you during the night or adverse weather conditions. A burned out lightbulb will be very dim or not illuminate at all. This can present danger to yourself and other drivers, or just get you a hefty ticket from law enforcement, so use this repair guide to restore safety and legality to your vehicle.
Before using this guide make sure that your brake/tail light is actually not illuminating.
The car should remain turned off for the duration of the repair!

Unhook the trim on the side of the trunk near the lights.

Remove the three 11 mm bolts from the side panel with your 11 mm socket.

Remove the side panel.

Disconnect the gray light connectors.

Turn the taillight upside down and unscrew the burnt out bulb to remove it from the assembly.

Screw the lightbulb back into the bay in the assembly.
