The cabin air filter in your vehicle helps to ensure that there is a proper ventilation system for the health and safety of all passengers. Without a working cabin air filter, the air inside of a vehicle's cabin is prone to having higher levels of harmful and odorous exhaust gases than the air outside of the cabin. The 2005-2011 Volkswagen Jetta’s cabin air filter is located differently compared to most cars.

Open the passenger door

Once the door is open locate the blower motor housing, which will be located below the glove compartment and behind the black foam cover.

Using a flat-head screw driver, remove the 2 screws on the foam cover by screwing counter clockwise. Store the screws in a safe place.

Pinch the cover and move it to the right, then pull the cover to remove it.

Pull out the dirty/old cabin air filter.

Depending on the condition of the filter you can either vacuum or replace with new filter. Vacuum dirty filter or remove packaging on new filter.
