    • WARNING: Hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. Make sure the engine is off!

    • Open the hood and locate the old air fuel sensor.

    • The air fuel sensor is located above the catalytic converter (upstream).

    • Disconnect one end of the old sensor by pressing the button. The circle in the first image shows the button.

    • The tab can be hard to remove! You may need to use a screwdriver to disconnect it.

    • Listen for an audible click.

    • Take the 5-point O2 sensor wrench and socket and put it on the other end (downstream) of the old air fuel sensor.

    • Turn the wrench counterclockwise until the old air fuel sensor detaches.

    • Pull out the old air fuel sensor.

    • Locate the new air fuel sensor.

    • Locate the tube of anti-seize lubricant that came with the new sensor.

    • Apply the oil lightly to the threads.

    • The oil is named DENSO oil. It will lubricate and provide protection for the threads (circled in the first picture).

    • Use gloves to protect your hands!

    • Insert the newly oiled air fuel sensor.

    • Tighten the sensor with the O2 sensor wrench.

    • Connect the tab to the upstream.

    • You will hear a click once the tab is connected to the upstream.

    • Turn your ignition on.

    • Check your dashboard to see if the check engine light is still on.

    • If the light is still on, turn the car off and wait a few minutes. Then turn the car back on and check the light again.

    • If the check engine light is still on, then use a code reader to see what is wrong with the car.
