It connects to smartphones via low latency Bluetooth that features a proprietary 2.4Ghz for both pieces of the controller. It also offers a battery life of approximately 20 hours from a single charge. The first Turtle Beach Atom controller was specifically made for Android and it was released on November 14, 2022 and then another one for iPhones released on September 11, 2023 and it has not been discontinued. The number of units manufactured or sold of the Turtle Beach Atom is not available. The Turtle Beach Atom was launched for the entire world to be able to purchase it.

The Turtle Beach Atom is aimed at people who use services like Xbox Game Pass, GeForce Now, and Steam Link and want to have a portable device they can take anywhere and play games via the cloud. The market segment is the highly portable gaming devices and wireless segment. The Turtle Beach Atom was launched with the MSRP of $99.99 and the iOS version at $79.99 although it can be found on websites like eBay for lower price. The most noteworthy thing about the Turtle Beach Atom is its two magnetic pieces which allow it to be very compact when it is not being used and since both pieces have independent Bluetooth connection, it allows it to be more portable and compatible with most phones. It also made the news in October 2022 for its initial launch and then again in August 2023 for when Turtle Beach announced the iOS version for iPhones.

There have been no manufacturer recalls for the Turtle Beach Atom but the most common failure modes are unresponsive buttons, failure to pair with the phone and joystick drift. What tends to fail with the Turtle Beach Atom is that often the right piece doesn't want to turn on or pair with the phone after charging and also the Bluetooth connection randomly disconnects during use. The Turtle Beach is praised for its compatibility with larger phones, its long battery life and the two magnetic pieces. However, complaints about it are having input lag when playing, not being able to charge it while using it, and the way it feels like it is prone to breaking.

The Turtle Beach Atom is two different pieces with ABYX buttons with the joystick below it on the right side and the d-pad on the left side with the joystick above it.
