Background Information
Announced on November 12, 2025, alongside the Second Generation Steam Controller and the Steam Frame, Valve's second go at the Steam Machine is a compact 6x6-inch Linux-based PC designed to offer an accessible, console-like gaming experience built on SteamOS. The new Steam Machine features a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 CPU and RDNA-3 GPU, which offer more than 6 times the performance power of the Steam Deck. With living-room gaming in mind, the Steam Machine supports 4K at 60 FPS with FSR upscaling.
The Steam Machine (2nd Generation) is offered in either 512 GB or 2 TB SSD configurations; however, both have expandable storage via a high-speed MicroSD card slot. Additionally, users can customize the LED status strip or disable it entirely, and can swap out the front plate.
Valve started shipping 2nd-gen Steam Machines globally in June 2026, with the base 512 GB model priced at $1,049 and the 2TB model priced at $1,349. Steam Controllers can be bundled at a discounted +$79 with either model.
