Background
Released in May 2025, Sony's premium yet still-complexly-named WH-1000XM6 over-ear, noise-cancelling, wireless headphones feature Bluetooth 5.3 and active noise cancelling (ANC), and are a direct successor to 2022’s WH-1000XM5s. Featuring a new exterior design, new drivers, and a new processor, the XM6s reportedly combine the strong points of the XM4s and XM5s. For example, they fold once again, a feature missing on the XM5s.
Available in Black, Midnight blue, or Platinum Silver, the WH-1000XM6s are priced at $450.
Identification
The Sony WH-1000XM6s feature a fully plastic construction, oval ear cups with circular backs (compared to oval-shaped backs on WH-1000XM5s), and a gold SONY logo on the end of each band.
