Background
The Sherwood FirstTemp Genius 3000A is a handheld battery operated thermostat that is used in the medical field. This device is designed to make 2 second readings without inserting within the body. Depending on where the device is used on the body, temperature measurements can be changed to either read in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
This device comes equipped with indicators to provide you with information of the temperature displayed in tenths(0.1), temperature display using calibrator in hundredths(0.01), diagnostic information, service menu, errors, battery condition, settings, and temperature mode.
Controls you'll find on the device would be the "Scan" button and "Mode" Button. When using the mode button you will see more controls such as CALIB (Calibration), SPC (Special Function), EQUIV, LOCK, and DEGREES F/ DEGREES C.
Additionally to the thermostat there is a wall mounting kit, blackbody for water baths, base assembly, 9v alkaline battery, Coiled assembly cords, calibrator, thermostat stand, as well as operation and service manual.

The Sherwood FirstTemp Genius 3000A is encased within a white and blue ABS plastic housing. The dimensions of the device are 8.5"(length) x 2.2"(width) x 3.0"(height). The base model variant has no electrical connections to the probe and its measurements are 9.2" (length) x 2.7"(width) x 2.0" (height). For the base model there is an optional security code that can be attached to the thermostat. To identify the model number, remove the handheld wand from its base and the model number will be printed in the top right corner of writing on the wand.
