Background and Identification
The Samsung SyncMaster 205BW is a 20-inch liquid-crystal display (LCD) widescreen monitor produced by Samsung and released in 2007. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd is a South Korean electronics company that is the world’s largest manufacturer of consumer electronics by revenue. In 2020, Samsung announced that it was exiting the LCD business. The Samsung SyncMaster 205BW features a resolution of 1680 by 1050 pixels.
The Samsung SyncMaster 205BW includes a slim silver bezel surrounding the screen. The monitor also includes full vertical adjustment with damped movement that makes it easy to position the monitor at varying heights. It has a VGA 15 pin HD D-Sub port and a DVI-D 24+1 pin digital DVI port. The DVI port is HCDP compliant. Six buttons are located on the bottom right corner of the monitor’s bezel with the power button featuring a blue light. An Auto Configure button is included for using the analog D-SUB input, a Menu button, up and down buttons, and a Select button. The down button also acts as a MagicBright shortcut that gives the user five defaults to choose from — Text, Internet, Game, Sport, and Movie.
According to a review of the Samsung SyncMaster 205BW by Trusted Reviews, the 205BW model has a slightly lower response time than the 215TW model at 6ms compared to 8ms. (The 215TW model is considered the 205BW’s big brother). The 205BW model uses an 8-bit panel that includes 16.7 million colors at its disposal.
