The R36S is a budget vertical handheld retro gaming console manufactured in China and distributed under various brandings (such as Boyhom and Data Frog). Taking heavy design inspiration from retro vertical handhelds like the Game Boy and Powkiddy RGB20S, it features dual analog sticks, four shoulder triggers on the rear, and a vertical form factor built around an IPS display.
The console runs Linux-based custom firmware (such as ArkOS or JelOS via retroarch/emulationstation) and utilizes a dual-microSD card setup (one for the operating system and one for game ROMs). It is capable of emulating systems up to PS1, N64, Dreamcast, and PSP.
