Background and Identification

Nikon released the D40X in 2007 as a variant of the D40. While the external design is similar, the D40X offered a higher resolution CCD sensor (10.2 MP versus 6 MP) and a faster 3 FPS continuous shooting rate (versus the D40's 2.5 FPS). The D40X's flash sync is reduced from 1/500 s to 1/200s. Like the Nikon D40, the D40X does not have an integrated autofocus motor built into the frame. The D40X is succeeded by the Nikon D60.
