Background and Identification
The Nellcor N-600x with Alarm Management System is a pulse oximeter made by Mallinckrodt’s Nellcor division. It is also called the OxiMax N-600x with Alarm Management System. Pulse oximeters are non-invasive devices used to monitor a patient’s oxygen saturation. The Nellcor division focuses mainly on producing pulse oximeters and oxygen monitors. The Nellcor N-600x with Alarm Management System is identical to the Nellcor N-600x pulse oximeter but includes an OxiMax Technology Alarm Management System.
The OxiMax N-600x with Alarm Management System is designed to continuously monitor the patient’s pulse rate and the functional oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin. It is suitable for use with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in hospitals, intra-hospital transport, hospital-type facilities, and home environments.
The OxiMax SPD Alert feature is designed to detect patterns of desaturation that indicate repetitive airflow reduction through the patient’s upper airway and into the lungs. The N-600x model with Alarm Management System is compatible with a range of OxiMax pulse oximetry sensors.
This pulse oximeter includes the name “NELLCOR” printed in capital letters in the upper left-hand corner of the device’s front face. The model name, “OxiMax N-600x,” is printed in the upper right-hand corner of the monitor’s front face.
For preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair information, see the Nellcor N-600x with Alarm Management System Service Manual.
