Background
The R61 was released in 2007. The R series was known for being quite large and durable laptops. This specific design in the R-series was designed to be the thin and light model of this series. They redesigned the roll cage to make it light but still durable for extra reinforcement in the lid.
The device was succeeded by the IBM ThinkPad 300 series and was supposed to be a budget business laptop. The device appealed to home users because of its large display. This was a big change from the normal size that was provided with the series.
The model is currently a legacy system and has been discontinued. It was succeeded by the R400 and R500 models, which have a similar size and style but have better processing capabilities. The model was discontinued in 2010.
Identification
The device is very thick because of its durability. It has a black chassis and a classic laptop keyboard and trackpad setup. It also features the dual-pointing system, which is the red dot in the center of the keyboard, which is so iconic with ThinkPad models. The screen is 14.1 inches diagonally; its length, width, and height dimensions are 13.1x9.4x1.5 inches. The best way to tell the device apart from other models is to look at the model number on the device. This number is located on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop. This specific model only comes in the color black.
