Background:
The HP ProBook 640 G2 is a business-oriented laptop that was released on January 6th, 2016. It was never discontinued, but it's implausible that they are still manufacturing them. The main selling points are the affordability, durability, and long battery life. It also features a USB-C port for power and display, which wasn't a common feature at the time of its release. The total number of units sold and units manufactured is currently disclosed. The selling point ranges between $75 - $200 in consumer-based marketplaces. A battery recall was announced in January 2018 due to the batteries having a chance to overheat and cause fires, but these were internal to the system, so they couldn't be replaced by consumers.
The model HP ProBook 470 G2 was its predecessor, and it was nearly 3 inches wider and 50% heavier than the HP ProBook 640 G2. The next model in the HP ProBook series was the HP ProBook 645 G2, and this changed the GPU and CPU to AMD models. Although it's the same size, the resolution was reduced to 1366 x 768. The direct successor is the HP ProBook 650, which keeps the 1366 x 768 of the 645, but it sticks to the Intel series.
