== Background and Identification ==

Steris is a medical equipment manufacturer founded in 1985 in the U.S. state of Ohio. During the decade from 2011 to 2020, Steris sold surgical lights branded as “Steris Harmony LED” and “Steris Harmony vLED” lights. These lights were eventually replaced with Steris’s HarmonyAIR M-series lights, but information for the older products is still available on [https://www.steris.com/healthcare/products/surgical-lights-and-examination-lights/surgical-lights|Steris’s website]. Steris also sold lights under the Harmony LA, LL, and LC brands.

Most lights from Steris are disk shaped and suspended from the ceiling in an operating room. Harmony lights are designed to be used with a handle which surgeons and nurses can use to position the lights and change the brightness and pattern. Steris markets their lights as using pure white LEDs which are tuned to give sharp detail on red tissue. The lights also feature a video camera (user installable) which can transmit video to a surgical display via a slew of connections including component, DVI, and RGBS. Each model comes with a different number of lights and displays, but you can change the configuration later.

You can identify a Steris light because it will have a the brand name “Steris” printed on the light itself or on an attached sticker. Often the model name will also be printed on this sticker.
