Omnicell Anesthesia Workstation (AWS) is an automated anesthesia medication dispensing system. Its first prototype was introduced in 2004. The device has several models: G3, G4, and XT Series of Anesthesia Workstation.

The latest XT model consists of numerous versatile drawer types, bar code scanner, articulating arm with a high-resolution screen display, bio-metric ID technology, guiding lights for quick identification of proper drawers, and sharps bin/waste container (optional).

It is intended for use by anesthesia providers in operating rooms and nurses working in patient care areas. The anesthesia workstation automates the process of storing, dispensing and securing medications. Hence, pharmacists spend less time on doing the administrative work and focus more on efficiently assisting hospitals in direct patient needs.

Omnicell’s Anesthesia Workstation earned the Category Leader Award for Anesthesia Cabinets for two consecutive years (Omnicell Inc., 2018). The Anesthesia Workstations are CSA and CE certified medical electrical equipment/systems, with a medical grade power supply (Omnicell Inc, 2015).
