== Background and Identification ==

The company that produces the Gas Module, Mindray DS, USA, produced four different types of Gas Modules: Gas Module II, Gas Module SE, Gas Module SE with Spirometry, and Gas Module 3. Each Module identifies and measures five anesthetic agents: Desflurane, Enflurane, Sevoflurane, Halothane, and Isoflurane, and N20, CO2, and O2.

There has been a sole recall for the Module 3 monitoring spirometer (part number: 115-030108-00). The recall is for the part number specified above which was purchased between February 14, 2008, to October 2015. This was due to Mindray changing the product multiple times which required a new 501(k) premarket notification.

***Gas Sampling System*** - Sample flow rate of 200ml/min

***Anesthetic Agent Sensor*** - 4mm conical measuring chamber

***O2 Sensor*** - Uses a pneumatic bridge configuration  with a magnetic field of 165 Hz

***CPU Board*** - Contains the memory, processor, A/D converters, Anesthetic Agent Sensor, and drivers for the valves, fan, and pump.

***O2 Board*** - Contains the electronics for the oxygen sensor.

***Communications Interface Board*** - Converts RS-232 hardware protocol to RS -485 hardware protocol, as well as the other way around.

***Power Supply*** - 53W quad-output power supply (MSP1306)

***Spirometry Module (SE with Spirometry Only)*** - Measures kinetic pressure with a two-sided Pitot tube.

Gas Module 3:

***Gas Sampling System*** - Sample flow rate of 200ml/min with Adult/Pediatric water trap and 120 ml/min with the neonatal water trap

***Anesthetic Agent Sensor*** -  non-dispersive infrared analyzer that measures the gas sample at up to eight wavelengths.

***O2 Sensor*** - Measures oxygen through the paramagnetic susceptibility of oxygen

***CPU Board*** - 12V power filter; RS-232 communication protocol for ports, and 8Mb of SPI memory

***Communications Interface Board*** - Distributes power to the AION (2 x 17-pin IDC with locking clips), and all communication with the Servomex, DRYLINE Receptacle, and OXIMA Receptacle all go through the communication board.

***Power Supply -*** Medical grade M5 with an integrated filter, line fuse, and neutral fuse
