== Background ==

The HP EliteBook 840 Aero G8 was launched at CES in January 2021 and formally released March 2021. It’s a part of HP’s [[Topic:HP EliteBook 840 Series|EliteBook 840 line]] of midrange laptops, a lightweight version of HP’s EliteBook 840 G8. During its launch, HP claimed that the 840 Aero G8 was the lightest 14-inch business laptop, at 2.5 lbs (1.13 kg).

The EliteBook 840 Aero G8 is highly configurable, starting at $1,663.

== Identification ==

The model and serial number (***S/N***) of your HP laptop are printed on the bottom cover. This laptop will have ***HP EliteBook 840 Aero G8*** printed just above the ***ProdID***.

If you can't read the information on the bottom of your laptop, you can get the model and serial number of your laptop via software. The first option is to open the ''HP Systems Information'' window. To do this, simultaneously press the Function (***Fn***) and Escape (***Esc***) keys. The window should open and display your product information. A second option is to check through ''Windows Settings''. First, click the Windows ***Start*** button and select ***Settings*** (the gear icon). Then, navigate to ***System*** > ***About*** and scroll down to see your device specifications.
