Background and Identification
The Dolce Gusto Genio is a single-use coffee machine by Nescafe, a Nestle company. It is manufactured by three different brands, Arno, Krups and De’Longhi. It is easily recognizable by its penguin-shaped body. It makes americano, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos and other flavors using Nespresso brand single-use pods. The Dolce Gusto Genio is a “professional-grade pressure-based automatic capsule coffee machine” according to the official site. The machine uses 15 bars of pressure for coffee extraction. It has a patented capsule that is sealed to keep the coffee fresh every time you make it. You also have the ability to customize your cup to be hot or cold using a toggle stick, which also adjusts the LED display to choose the size of coffee you want and the strength of your brew. It has a removable reservoir, a height-adjustable drip tray, and an Eco-mode which automatically turns the machine off after 5 minutes of inactivity.
