Background
The Dell Precision 3550, released in May of 2020 and now discontinued, is a laptop designed for workplaces, with models featuring AI-based optimization and a 10th Generation i7 or i5 Intel core. This product also features NVIDIA Quadro P520 graphics, a huge performance boost for those working with CAD software as well as 2GB of memory. Though no specific numbers are available for the original price point or units manufactured and/or sold of the Precision 3550, I can say that the model was not region exclusive. Dell marketed this product towards business-type professionals on a budget that sought a laptop's portability and a workstation capability as one technology at their fingertips.
As far as most can tell, there are no major headlines or known recalls related to the 3550, although some owners have reported battery wear, hinge issues, and USB-C port failures over time. For the most part, reviews from many different sources across the internet compliment the model’s performance and longevity. However, the same outlets take note of the model’s likeliness to lose resolution and battery life when refurbished. At release, the 3550 model replaced the ******3541 of the same series, which saw an improvement in CPU efficiency with 10th Gen Intel processors, and was later succeeded by the ******3561 products, which added 11th Gen chips. Ultimately, the 3550 had been a reliable budget-friendly workstation with minor long-term wear possibilities.
Identification
Dell’s Precision 3550 model has an approximate measured size of 359x236x15mm (or 14.1x9.3x0.6 in), it should weigh about four pounds and can be described as having a darker silver color (the only manufactured color per model) with a thinner rectangular body. To help set it apart from like models, Dell designed this one with a more unique trackpad and a port layout that includes Ethernet, HDMI, USB-A, and USB-C ports. If you look at the underside of the model, you will see a sticker detailing the model number and service tag. A couple of the biggest indicators of this model should be the pointing stick (the circular button located between the G, H, and B keys) and the compact keyboard which makes room for the numeric keypad.
