Background
In June 2012, Dell announced the Inspiron line of laptops. The President of the Client Solutions Group at Dell Technologies, Sam Burd, released this line to provide a laptop for families that they could rely on to perform well. Although the Dell Inspiron 15-3521 was created by utilizing the newest technology available at the time, it has now been superseded by newer technological innovations. This particular model uses older hardware than other laptops in the Inspiron line, which makes it perform slower. Also, it lacks the variety of ports and advanced central processing units (CPUs) that are common in newer Dell models. This laptop is now considered obsolete when compared to newer advanced laptops, but it can still help users with all their needs. This laptop can help create documents, send e-mails, and perform most tasks that users need. Despite its age, customers still use this model because of its low cost, simplicity, and ability to help users accomplish what they need to do.
Identification
Opening the Dell Inspiron 15-3521, should reveal a 13.3” screen, keyboard equipped with all the necessary typing keys, and rectangular touchpad. Closing the laptop should show users the Dell logo on the top of the laptop. The sides should contain multiple openings designed to fit USB devices, SD-cards, or headsets. The bottom of the laptop should include some laptop information and circular rubber spots to prevent the laptop from being damaged or moving when sat on different surfaces. Since this laptop is similar to its other models, it is recommended to use the following methods to identify your laptop’s model.
To identify your Dell laptop’s model number, flip the laptop over and search for an identification code. It will often be next to the words “model” or “service tag.” For this laptop, the model number is 15-3521.
If this information is missing from your laptop, you can also discover the laptop’s model by finding its system information. To do this, log in to the laptop and click the search bar. Type and click “System Information.” This will bring you to a system summary with rows of information. The seventh row is for the system model and will provide your laptop’s model number. Another possible way to identify the laptop’s model is to type and click “SupportAssist” into the search bar. After launching the application, hover the mouse over “Service Tag” in the top right corner. This will uncover the laptop’s model number.
If the model number cannot be found by looking at the bottom of the laptop or in the laptop’s searchable information, you can look for the packaging the laptop came with to identify your laptop’s model. The model number can be found within the documentation that is packaged with the laptop.
