Background
The Breas iSleep 10 is a portable CPAP machine that provides continuous positive airway production through a face mask for users who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea. It provides uninterrupted airflow to help keep the user’s airways open.
The machine can be powered with an external source (iSleep DC Converter), or can run on the Breas external EB 2 battery pack. The Breas iSleep 10 comes with the main unit, carrying bag, power supply, patient tube, 1 white disposable filter, 1 gray washable filter, and product manual. (iSleep mask not included.) The product is gray in color, with a light green display screen. Device includes altitude settings and ramp function
The operation of this device is allowed only under the direct supervision of a physician. Special instructions are included if user has also been prescribed oxygen.
The iSleep series was first launched in 2006, but sleep products were phased out after PBM Capital Group bought Breas Medical in 2014. During that time, PBM also purchased Human Design Medical (HDM), the maker of the Z1 CPAP. Since then, the iSleep series has been discontinued in the US, and replaced with the Z-series of travel CPAPs. The iSleep series can still be purchased in the UK. Specific pricing for this model can no longer be confirmed, but historic averages put the cost at between $600-$1200.
The main difference between the Breas iSleep 10 and iSleep 20 CPAP machines is the data tracking and reporting capabilities. The iSleep 20 provided in-depth data like the Apnea/Hypopnea Index (AHI). The iSleep 20i is an automatic CPAP (APAP) machine. This means it uses advanced algorithms that adjust pressure. It also includes a memory card that stores digital information, and includes a heated humidifier.
Identification
The Breas iSleep 10 CPAP machine is identified by its gray/silver box-style appearance with a slanted front, rectangular display window, and four buttons placed underneath the display. Under this is the on/off button. The Breas iSleep brand name is easily seen across the top of the device above the display window. When machine is on, the display window light is green.
On the back of the machine is a connector for the ventilation hose. On the right side is the air inlet which stores the removable filters. On the left side is the DC external power connection and a data connection for service purposes only.
The model designation, serial number, (this is the last 7 alphanumerical characters) and class description are located on the bottom of the machine.
