Bosch 1587AVS

The Bosh 1587AVS is a jigsaw manufactured and sold by the Company Bosch. Released in 1997, this tool is meant to be used by both professionals and beginners for the cutting of irregular shapes in a number of materials. Weighing just over 5 pounds, this tool is able to cut wood, plastic, aluminum, as well as other metals. The jigsaw itself is powered exclusively by a connected cord and operated by hand by the use of the trigger on the grip, and other operational switches on the device. The device comes with a single replaceable blade as well as a chip blower and a steel footplate.

Currently this model is not being sold by Bosch being discontinued at an undisclosed date. Its original price being varied due to different retail sellers, it is still available to purchase second-hand being somewhere under $100 but varying significantly based off of condition. Its parts are also still being sold by third party vendors (see Additional Info for more information). Additionally, Bosch has released a number of other jigsaws which can be found on their website or at a store who sells Bosch products.

Being sold and discontinued over 20 years ago there is very little information on this device available. Statistics such as units sold are not available to the public

The Bosh 1587AVS has a single detachable blade, one handle to operate it, and a single cord to power the tool. On the handle, there is a single trigger which controls the speed of the blade. Opposite of this is a steel footplate on the bottom of the tool, meant for the tool to rest on and be guided properly when cutting material. This model can be Identified by the Bosch logo, which is the companies name in bold red text, and it can be identified by the model number displayed prominently on the side of the tool.
