Background & Identification
The Atari Flashback 2 is the second generation of the Flashback series of the retro gaming console, the “Atari 2600”. This second-generation model was released in 2005. The console is a self-contained gaming console that has 40 pre-programmed games that the user can individually select from and play. This console is different from many modern-day gaming consoles as it does not physically accept cartridges or discs.
The Atari Flashback 2 is a sleek black gaming console that is a remake of the original Atari 2600 released in 1977. The system is composed of the console and two joysticks. The Atari Flashback 2 also has five buttons in place of the original switches and cartridge slot on the original Atari 2600. The buttons are from left to right: power button, reset button, difficulty change button and select button. On the back of the console, there are two controller ports on the left and right side, a 9V DC power socket and a color/bw TV switch. The Atari Flashback 2 console requires a 9V DC power supply as well as standard audio and video inputs.
