Since the Zflip3 was released in 2021, the flex cable connecting the two halves could be worn and torn by the constant folding action, causing the touch screen to malfunction. I ran into almost the same issue on my Zflip 5. it shuts itself down when I fold it because the flex cable has almost snapped in the middle. Since Samsung decided to put the screen connector on the lower half and connect that to the motherboard with a stupidly fragile cable that is guaranteed to fail, its pretty much only a matter of time before this happens.
(black strip is the flex cable)
this is a very complicated repair btw, you need to remove the whole delicate screen and disassemble part of the hinge to remove it. What I advise you to do is take the top and bottom rear glass off, find the press connectors of the flex cables, disconnect them, and just slap a new one onto the phone outside the hinge without routing it through the hinge and everything. you will still have to disassemble parts of it but its better than taking the screen off. If it restores the touch function then you have located the issue (which is the flex cable) and can proceed to replace it.
(If it doesnt it could also be because the screen itself is damaged by the folding action but hey at least it saves you the trouble of removing everything.)
A better solution than replacing the cable alone might be buying a whole frame assembly that came with the cable so you dont have to replace it yourself, only migrate everything to the new casing, but you still have to replace the screen.
