Is it possible to use DDR3-1600 RAM?

Hey!

I am going to get a new MacBook Pro 2012 13 inch in the coming weeks, and I ordered some RAM for it today.

I ordered 2x4GB DDR-3 1600 (PC12800) Corsair Venegance RAM.

Is it possible to use this RAM in my current MacBook Pro 2009, when Apple tells me to use 1066Mhz-RAM?

I know that's possible with desktop PCs, but does it work with Macs too?

Thanks!

It should be alright. Downgrading usually works fine on newer Macs.

I think you misunderstood. I want to use the DDR3-1600 in the older MacBook Pro 13''. And that does not work - I just tried. But thanks!
