Hi, my friend's HP Envy x360 laptop lost power in the middle of usage, and now doesn't boot whatsoever. Any ideas as to the cause? My best guesses right now are either a short from the damaged USB port fried the board (their phone was charging from the USB port while the computer was charging) or that the battery disconnected.

When an HP Envy loses power and won’t boot, start by removing all peripherals and holding the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual charge. Connect the charger and check for charging LEDs. Try a hard reset: unplug the charger, remove the battery if possible, then press power for 20 seconds. Reinsert the battery and retry. If the keyboard lights flash but the screen stays black, boot with Windows + B + Power for BIOS recovery. Test RAM by reseating or booting with one module at a time. If there’s no response at all, the issue may be a failed motherboard, DC jack, or power rail.
