Can't succeed at the last step of screen replacement

Ah, okay, it took quite a bit of searching, but I finally located a TikTok video showing the replacement process for the screen only repair rather than the screen+frame like virtually every other guide I found was describing.

The basics of it are that you remove the back glass in order to access the connectors inside. Take off the rear shield with screws, then you can unplug the battery and disconnect the screen.

Next, you remove the screen from the frame, clean all the old adhesive off and glue the new screen in place. Of course, you'll want to temporarily plug it in and test it before gluing it down; just set it in place, flip the phone over and reconnect the screen and battery and power it on to verify the display and touch screen are working. Assuming it's all good, disconnect the battery and screen again and go ahead with gluing the screen down. Reassemble the inside components and reglue the rear cover and you're set.

You should be able to use the existing screen+frame guide up through Step 20 to get you to the point where you remove the screen.

Can we see a picture of what's left on the front of the phone at this point? It sounds as though you've gone one layer too shallow in taking the display out so it may simply be a matter of getting under the remaining part of the screen and repeating the removal process.

Hopefully that'll help you figure out if my theory is what happened.
