[Denon AH-GC20] Not charging

Hi my Denon AH-GC20 Headphones cannot be charged anymore.

If I connect the USB cable for charging the LEDs won't blink, just looks like there is no cable connected at all.

Any idea how I could fix it? I am considering to open the headphones, would it make sense to replace the batterie (if I find a replacement) or should I look into the charging circuit?

Thanks for your help.

Review questions covering this headphone. Rechargeable batteries have a limited life not described in manuals and do eventually wear out, Disassembling can be challenging with some hardware hidden behind stick-on labels, rubber pads, cover. Disassembled for battery access, batteries have markings for individual voltage and capacity. Some battery packs have a heat shrink wrap with more info for better replacement matching otherwise finding equivalent batteries can be as simple as shoppig online for thousands of rechargeables in every shape, size and capacity. Soldering skills may be needed if connectors aren't used. Caution is needed around rechargeable lithium rechargeables against shorting them during disassembly/assembly; short circuiting can create instantaneous runaway; heat and explosion. Done safely, replacing batteries may be more cost effective than buying replacement headphones by extending the life of one already reliable except for its worn out batteries. This presumes nothing else failed.

@daniel35428 you will actually have to disassemble your headphones to determine what is going on with them. This "I connect the USB cable for charging the LEDs won't blink" could be a good indication that the issue is with your connector. You need to measure the voltage on the board side of the connector, once you plug it in. See if your board even gets power. Yes, you do want to replace the battery as well, but inspect the charging circuit when you do that. Not much help out there about how to open them up but check this write-up and follow it along. Should be good enough to get you going.

Once you have your headphone disassembled, take some really good pictures of your circuit boards etc. Then post those with your Question. That way we can see what you see and hopefully we can get this fixed. Adding images to an existing question

While you work on your headphones , take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has a device with the same issues as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
