Washer stopped mid wash and won't turn back on.

My Maytag washer stopped during a load before it was supposed to drain and finish. Now when I try to run it, it will fill for a second or two, stop, and the sensing fill light will flash. My washer will not enter diagnostic mode, so I took some of it apart to troubleshoot before replacing parts. I checked inlet valves (not clogged), drain valve (as soon as it was disconnected, water flowed out, so not clogged), all parts in the control panel were clean and connected properly. I did research and replaced the part W10285511 for the water sensor, thinking that was the problem. Nope. I did more research and chose to order a new lid lock component. It's almost here and I will replace it then. If that doesn't work, I'm not sure the next steps. I really dont want to call out a tech. Any advice?

Hi @shaylasimpson

What procedure did you use to enter the diagnostic mode?

Here's the tech sheet for the washer that may help.

Try using the procedure for entering the service diagnostic modes as seen in the guide and see if that works.

If there is an error code shown by the tests, check the error code table in the guide to find out what the problem may be.

If you find the problem and it's a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the part number that is shown for the part. Search online for the part number only, to fins suppliers that suit you best.

That is the same sheet I have that came with the washer. I have used that procedure to enter diagnostic mode and it doesn't work. I have unplugged and reset and it still will not enter, so I started replacing parts based on the behavior or the washer.

@shaylasimpson

Did you check if the pressure sensor hose going from the tub to the pressure sensor is clear and not kinked or blocked?

Not going into diagnostic mode, coupled with earlier failing during a cycle is starting to look like a control board problem.

I have just taken the back off and rechecked the hose connecting the sensor and the tub. There are no kinks or blocks that I can identify. Is it worth to disconnect and reconnect some of the things in the control panel? Is there anything else for me to try before calling a tech?

@shaylasimpson

If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) you could check if there's 12V DC and 5V DC on the control board J1 pins 1 and 4 respectively.

If there's no voltage on these two pins then there's something wrong with the control board

Although if there is it only proves that the control board has some functionality.

Whilst doing the voltage checks you could also visually inspect the control board for any obvious component damage.

Other than that you may have to call a tech.

If you do, let us know what needed to be done to get it fixed.

Cheers
