iPhone 15 Pro Max - Random Shutdowns & Panic Logs

Good Day, i have some questions regarding a random shutdown of my iPhone 15 Pro Max just only using browser like Google chrome and Safari and sometimes using camera. I was just using it in light use but a sudden shutdown occurs. I bought it from Compasia website as refurbished excellent grade. The first month was good and doesn't have a problem after the 2nd month of using, the problem now occurs.

I have contacted apple support but after diagnosis finds no problem. I pasted the panic logs to Chatgpt and read that it was a chipset issue of 15 promax. Can you read my recent panic logs instead?

This appears to be a new one for us here at iFixit, but going on my 35+ years in the computer industry, I'd say there's a memory error in the processor's cache RAM. ECC stands for Error Correction Code, which is basically extra bits in each data word that tell if the data is correct or not. A failure is strictly internal to the processor and the only fix is to replace the CPU, the A17 Pro SOC, since the cache memory is contained on-chip for speed.

Alisha (@flannelist), what do you think? Have I misstated anything or made any bad assumptions?

I have seen ones like this before (i have seen a LOT of iOS panic logs, like a LOT), but never found a specific fix. My previous assessment was this was either software or CPU/RAM. AMCC is Apple Memory Cache Controller. So sounds like your assessment was correct to me.

Your panic log shows a hardware-level fault in the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s A17 Pro chip cache/memory controller (AMCC), where an ECC one-bit error triggered the shutdown; this isn’t caused by apps like Safari or Chrome but by the chipset itself, and since Apple’s basic diagnostics often miss such intermittent SoC errors, your best step is to try a DFU restore to rule out firmware corruption, but if shutdowns continue you’ll need to seek warranty service or a logic board replacement from Apple or CompAsia, as it’s almost certainly a hardware defect.
