My keyboard isn't very responsive, does it need a replacement?

My keyboard doesn't always register keystrokes. I have to press hard and rapidly to get a response. It's not all the letters/numbers, just some. Can this be fixed, or does it just need a replacement? If so, how do I proceed with that? iFixit doesn't have a guide for that.
