Repair guides and disassembly information for the MacBook Pro 16'' released in November of 2019. Model A2141, EMC 3347.

The threads inside the hole are damaged.

When I inserted the screw into the red-circled hole in the photo, I made sure to keep it perfectly vertical at a 90-degree angle. However, the thread inside seems to have been damaged.

The first few threads from the top — about 3 turns — appear to be deformed at a 90-degree angle, preventing the screw from going in all the way.

As a result, the screw gets stuck and cannot be tightened properly.

  1. "The screw is a P5 1.2mm type — could you tell me the correct tap size for the hole it fits into?"
  2. "Does the hole in that area go all the way through?"

It appears the bottom cover is not aligned to the screw stud below in the upper case frame as seen here.

So either the cover is not properly aligned or either the cover or upper case frame has become bent somehow. Review this guide for better images and screw sizes MacBook Pro 16" 2019 Lower Case Replacement

Can you give us a bit more information on why I assume you popped the bottom cover off as that might offer us why this is not aligned.
