Repairing a pepper grinder that doesn't grind peppercorns

True, I just paid a dollar for a used hand held pepper grinder that twists rather than has the crank. It looks just about new : shiny, clean, not much wear. But it doesn't grind peppercorns. I have it apart, the mechanism is simple. There are only two screws holding the bottom on. It could be the reason why the person that brought it to thrift store dumped it. But no parts look missing. The grinder wheel is worn but I don't know what is normal for that.

It's somewhat difficult for us to diagnose the issue with your grinder without knowing what you're working with. Can you add some pictures of your grinder, both assembled and disassembled so we can see what you see?

I have no image- making gear: camera, cell phone etc. I apologize for delaying reply. But don't really see what some low quality photos would show anyway. There are samples of people disassembling the simple ones on Youtube. Most of those vids are just cleaning. This one is clean and shiny, it just doesn't 'grab' any peppercorns to grind. The spring inside which is either a feeding mechanism or for some tension is just a mystery.

I put it back together and will give it another try, but it may have wound up at the thrift store because it's just junk. That's always possible: no repairability

Have you actively fixed a pepper grinder yourself?

On further look at this, I guess just let it go. A few rock sized pepper chunks

grind out but it's not like the thing works as it should.
