Is ifixit's 5/5.5 display "enhanced" or "standard"

I hear that the 5.5 display is brighter than that of the 5. Any chance we know for certain which one iFixit actually have listed, or how to identify them in the wild?

You could always try asking them directly. Best way I know of is to email them at support@ifixit.com.

@dadibrokeit their support page says in bold letters "this is not a tech support line, plz use the forums" but ATP I might as well just pop the Q over via email anyways.

@andrewbreazna @dadibrokeit is of course correct. We do not know which display iFixit is selling on this forum, since we are not directly involved with sales or iFixit as a store.

As for identifying the display for a 5th Gen iPods 'Late 2006' (Apple never made a iPod with the designation 5.5 gen. Consumers and seller just referred to them by that name because it is just easier) versus the older model 5th gen iPod Classic, is pretty much impossible since the displays do not have the common Apple part numbers on it. You would need a display for a iPod 5th gen 'Late 2006' where the serial number's last three digits will be a WU9, WUA, WUB, or WUC.

@andrewbreazna I believe there's some confusion over the term "support". For advice on how to fix your device, the forums are indeed the place to go. For technical information about an iFixit product, the email support address is the way to go.

When comparing the iPod 5th Generation (Video) display to the iFixit 5" and 5.5" displays, the 5.5" is regarded as the "enhanced" version because of its improved colour accuracy and brightness. Although some aftermarket or upgraded parts may come with a "enhanced" display, iFixit usually offers replacement screens that match the original specifications.
